Effort and Yield

Does the effort match the yield?

This is a time-old question. If you work hard enough, inevitably you will ask yourself if the yield that you receive is worthy of the effort you put in.

Now, this isn’t always financially related.

Far too many people, in my opinion, are overly concerned with the yield of their efforts in terms of how many $$ they get.

Dollars a good metric. Money is a good way to keep score of what you do in the social economic ecosystem that is the global economy.

When you work for 10 hours, you make $100.

It’s simple. It’s easy. That’s what people like to see.

Now, when I look to other ideas. Ways of becoming better and improving over time.

There is far more to life than how much your output is for working hard in terms of dollars. Output can be a myriad of things OUTSIDE of financial gain:

  1. Knowledge
  2. Influence
  3. Relationships
  4. Discipline

… and a whole slew of other REAL ideas that affect us to our core.

When I work on something, I evaluate the outcome not just in terms of how many $ I might make, but what I might gain out of it in the long-run.

For me, making a post on here is not about making $2. It’s about making $2 AND learning something. Sharing my thoughts. Building a brand for myself.

It’s about more than just making a quick dollar or 2. The world is more complex than that.
